Blog Assignment #2

For this blog posting, I chose a paper that I wrote for my HPR 453 class. In the paper, I was the writer and the teacher was the reader. However, the paper was designed for other readers who may have been interested in the topic. The writing specifically focused on my major, Therapeutic Recreation, and professions that are interrelated. My primary goal was to persuade the audience of how important and exciting this major can be. I achieve this by doing adequate research and providing personal experiences. Some ways that helped me in writing this paper was to ask myself some questions that the audience may have and then give appropriate responses. For the paper, I gave a clear definition and purpose of Therapeutic Recreation. I presented all of the requirements and qualifications needed to become involved. Later, I did a few comparisons and contrasts in regards to other jobs that may be similar to TR. The differences included, but were not limited to: job titles, salaries, career, certifications, and activites used better the lives of other individuals. Much of this information was obtained by previous professors, reliable internet sources, books, and Therapeutic Recreation Journals. I wanted to make sure that the audience would be persuaded to look more into the material presented, in hopes that they may consider it for future careers. To have a positive effect on the audience, I also emphasized using correct grammar and subject & verb agreement. Although this assignment was time consuming, hard work and determinaton were key factors in the success of the paper. If you are focus on your audience and the purpose of your writing in their lives, possibilities are endless to what you can achieve..........

Hello Everyone! My name is Jessica Jordan. I currently reside in Hattiesburg, MS and I am a senior majoring in Therapeutic Recreation. I am a very optimistic person who loves learning anything that will help improve my life and the lives of those around me.
